I've been a friend of Keith's for many years. When I first met him, he had newly opened up his first yoga studio here in Austin — the original Dharma Yoga! Since those early days, he's moved to a bigger studio right across the street from the original Wheatsville Co-op, and most recently, he's opened a second location on the eastside (the subject of this photo shoot). Keith knew me back when I was traveling all over the country photographing the Yoga Journal Conferences, and we used to run into each other walking the grounds of the conference up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado! I've done a number of yoga photo shoots for his studio over the years, and I'm so excited to see him mindfully expanding his reach to more students and teacher training participants. He and his partner Camilla run both studios, and co-teach their teacher training courses each year. They are some of the nicest people you will ever know, and truly two of the best yoga teachers in town!
These images were shot during a live class of real yogis using only natural light, so there is a wonderful authenticity to them, and they really capture the warmth and magical mood of the studio space. The beautiful window light ushering in, complemented by the warm, rich tones, fills every entering student with a sense of gratitude for this serene space.
Attending a class with Camilla or Keith is transformative on so any levels. Camilla has this light-hearted and funny personality mixed with such sage wisdom. You will certainly leave knowing yourself and your fellow students a little better than before!
Do yourself a favor and go experience a class with them!
